I have had corned beef hash all over Canada & the U.S.  I have not yet had anything that compares to yours.  The presentation with scambled eggs (with green onions) was perfect.  Don’t change it!

Hi John’s Place,

We were visiting Victoria for our friends’ wedding this past long weekend.  It was when we were at the reception trying to make breakfast plans with all the amazing people we met, and asked about a “great place to go” the answer was unanimous: JOHN’S PLACE!

It was busy…which was something we were warned about…but that did not take away from our service experience in the slightest.

However it was when our server “Cheryl” heard that we had friends on the other side waiting to be sat as well…she said “let me see what I can do about having you guys all sit together” I was blown away!…and she did it!

She was so accommodating, personable and incredibly “real” charming, she really made us feel like we had been coming to the restaurant for years!

And the food… Oh Ehm Gee!  It was perhaps the best breakfast I had ever eaten…The “Lemon Zinger” pancakes…To. Die. For.

Since then all my breakfasts have been incredibly boring as I keep thinking about that deliciously sweet glaze!  Not only that, but the coffee was exceptional as well and all who served it again and again and again….

Great Food.  Great people.  And a Great experience.

Makes me want to move to Victoria?…guess I would need a job then?…

Hi John!

My family and I visited your restaurant in Mid-July and loved your place.  The attentive service made me never want to leave.  Apparently that and the wonderful food and endless cups of coffee are why the line was out the door when we visited one weekend.  Your burrito was really wonderful…..the hot sauce was the real deal, I am a chili head from Houston, Texas.  I have been a vegetarian for most of my 50 years and when I saw the vegan offering I had to try it.  It was fabulous.  My newest food direction is vegan and I am going to recreate the burrito, so feel free to send any suggestions for the preparation.  Thanks for putting your menu online.  Definately would recommend your restaurant to anyone traveling to Victoria.

This is quite seriously my favorite restaurant in not only Victoria but in the history of restaurants.  I feel at home here.  My dad was a chef and growing up in his kitchen, laughing, exploring, and loving both our food and our family has made all restaurants void.  But your food tastes like my dad’s!  Home done, with an obvious and apparent love for food, and for life.  I want to eat here every day.

We are from Mexico and a few days ago we had lunch at your place (we heard about you searching internet for best places to eat in Victoria).  After our experience in your restaurant we have to say if you are in Victoria you MUST GO TO JOHN’S PLACE!!!!

The team is more than friendly and the service is fast and excellent; great food and in very good portions too.  We ordered the vegie lasagna, noodle soup and two cheeseburgers…..yummy!!!

At the end we ordered the pecan pie and coffee, pecan pie is pure heaven…..and the coffee is superb.  I just regret we did not have the chance to have breakfast, I heard the waffles are a must.

I’ve eaten a lot of bennies in my 60+ years.  Yours is just about the Best!  Congrats!  Hollandaise sauce should never come out of a can — a fact that many restaurants do not observe.  My hat off to your excellent sauce!

This is our first time at John’s Place.  I had the traditional french toast with cream cheese syrup.  It was absolutely outstanding!  My husband had the eggs benny with spinach and said it was the best he had had.  We will be back as soon as possible and will bring our friends.

I first tasted the Classic Benny on a bagel in the 1980′s and it ruined me for all other egg’s benedict dishes in other restaurants from then on.  John’s is the only place that I will order Eggs Benedict.

I visited Victoria BC for the 1st time this last weekend.  What a great surprise to be staying at the hostel down the street and to find your place.  People were standing in line out the door… I knew it had to be good.  My friend and I ate brunch on Sunday morning.  And Monday morning we were back for more!  Will be back again soon I hope.  What great food and service.  The staff was so nice and very professional.  Loved everything about JOHNS PLACE.  Will tell others of my great food as well.

Great breakfast selection, service, quality & staff.  The corned beef was the best “peasant food” on the planet.  Real care in its preparation along with the expertly done soft poached eggs.  My wife’s Hollandaise was light and delicate.  The waitress was a laugh a minute.  All you need is her people energy to have a party.

We just wanted to tell you that the apricot cheesecake today was exquisite and by far one of the best we have ever tasted!  I have searched the world for a New York style cheesecake that equalled one my wife & I had on the pier in Sydney Australia in 1975.  This came very close!  A terrific cake.

That was great pecan pie!  Lots of nuts and not too sweet!

Great?? It was better than great it was fantabulous! And, we will keep coming for the bread too!
